carolriddick.jpgCarol Riddick: Brown Eyed Girl By Adrina Nelson Carol Riddick is the voice that fills the heart with desire and sets the soul on fire. Grown and sexy music is officially back! With the melodies on her album, Moments Like This, Ms. Riddick will truly take you back to moments in your life that you will never forget. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, the singer/songwriter has graced the stages and blessed the microphone with her elegant presence and poured endless passion into her songs. Music has been in her life since she was a teenager. But like any seed, it must grow into a flower for the entire world to see. The world first took notice of her vocal talent when she toured with Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff. Her voice has blessed the tracks of many notable artists including Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Norman Brown, Kindred, and most recently Musiq Soulchild. Carol Riddick’s Moments Like This has brings new meaning to the phrase ‘grown and sexy’. So ladies and gentlemen raise your wine glasses. Here’s to the comeback of candle-lit baths and wine-down Wednesdays. Here’s to Ms. Carol Riddick! Nu-Soul: What brought you to the music industry? Carol: My love and passion for music and for performing. Music called to me... Nu-Soul: What musicians and singers inspired you? Carol: Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder, Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band; to name a few Nu-Soul: What was the turning point from failure to success? Carol: I've never felt like I've failed. As long as I keep God first and I continue to pursue my passion with the gift I've been given, I will not fail. Nu-Soul: How would you define your music? Carol: As a hybrid of sorts. Nu-Soul: What message or feeling do you want listeners to take away from you music? Carol: I believe that there is a ministry in music and I'd like for my listeners to be moved enough that they feel compelled to make a change. Nu-Soul: How was it working with some of music's notable artists like Musiq Soulchild and others? Carol: It was such a great experience. I enjoy working with other artists, it helps me to grow and allows me to contribute to their vision. Nu-Soul: Tell me about your CD. Why did you choose Moments like This as the title of the CD? Carol: Because all of the songs on the CD are recalling individual moments in my life or the in the life of someone close to me. Nu-Soul: Is the album inspired by personal experiences? Carol: If not, what is the biggest inspiration behind the album? Yes; mine and those of others close to me. Nu-Soul: One of my favorite songs is "Brown-Eyed Girl". How did this song come about? Carol: I went through a period in life where I had to weed out anyone whom I felt did not have a positive influence in my life. I had to stop, stand still and realize who I am and that I do have a purpose. Nu-Soul: What is your favorite song on the album? Which song did you enjoy recording? Carol: All of them! It was such a release for me to write them and to record them. It was therapeutic. Nu-Soul: “Tribute to Gram: It's Okay" is a very moving song and has a beautiful vocal and melody arrangement. What's the story behind this song? Carol: That song is a tribute to our grandmother; mine and my sister. My sister co-wrote and sings that song with me. Our grandmother was in the hospital at the time and she was not doing well. We had left the studio and I was scheduled to record that night. We went to the studio and wrote this song. Our grandmother kept telling us that day that she was slipping away and we felt that she needed to know that it was okay to move on. We went in to the studio to write on Wednesday evening; left the studio on Thursday morning (which happened to be my birthday) and our grandmother moved on that Friday. My sister says she waited until after my birthday. Nu-Soul: How was your first live performance experience? Carol: INCREDIBLE!!!!! Nu-Soul: What are you doing now? What are your upcoming projects? Carol: I am gearing up for the next CD and I'm looking to expand my horizons in other arenas of entertainment. www.carolriddick.net myspace.com/carolriddick Purchase Carol's music at Itunes Purchase Carol's music at Amazon home_banner.png
